THE DESIGN ANNEX (Art Gallery of Hamilton)

Located in the heart of the James Street North Arts District, the AGH Design Annex is an exciting visually stimulating space that’s a great location for an intimate wedding celebration, cocktail reception or corporate event. All events at the Design Annex are professionally organized and managed by the AGH Wedding + Events Services team. The décor of the Design Annex embraces its architectural heritage. Situated in a beautifully restored early 20th century heritage building, the space features exposed brick and hardwood floors with modern, urban finishing, creating an atmosphere of casual elegance. The space also showcases experimental contemporary art installations by local, Canadian and international artists.

WORKER’S ARTS & HERITAGE CENTRE

OVERVIEW:

The historic Custom House is an ideal location for a wedding ceremony or reception. Either in the Main Gallery or in the backyard, both spaces can be enhanced to suit a variety of wedding. The Main Gallery space features original wooden floors, high ceilings, 3 large, beautiful arched windows and backyard access. The Main Gallery houses contemporary art exhibits, which adds an extra touch of uniqueness to any event or meeting. Theatre-style capacity is 107 guests and table configurations are about 84 guests. The backyard can be configured in many different ways and can accommodate anywhere from 150-250 guests.

THE ANCASTER OLD TOWN HALL

OVERVIEW:

The Ancaster Old Township Hall was built in 1870, and stands today as one of the finest pieces of stone architecture in Ancaster. The charming interior comes complete with stage, hardwood floor, arched windows and high ceiling. With space for up to 90 guests, the Hall is ideal for wedding receptions.

DUNDURN CASTLE

OVERVIEW:

Ball’s Falls Conservation Area offers spectacular scenery, natural beauty and reveals interesting traces of a mid-19th century industrial hamlet. Nestled on the scenic Niagara Escarpment, choose from a hall (seats 120) or barn (seats 190) reception venue. Nestled on the scenic Niagara Escarpment at Ball’s Falls Conservation Area, the Ball’s Falls historical church accommodates up to 110 guests. The interior of this restored chapel features warm wood-tones: both rustic and elegant. The chapel is heated to provide year-round access and the site has ample parking for guests. Weddings can be accommodated at the Centre for Conservation or The Big Barn. With convenient highway access, this area is the perfect storybook setting for your special wedding day

UNIQUE FEATURES:

  • Ceremony Facilities – Ball’s Falls Historical Church & Reception facilities available.
  • A pump organ is available for your use at no extra cost — You must arrange your own organist (contacts are available). Other instruments may be used by your arrangement.

THE OLD COURTHOUSE (NOTL)

OVERVIEW:

Located on the main street of Niagara on the Lake, this historic building offers a wealth of history. Although the Shaw Festival Courthouse Theatre occupies the upper level of the building throughout the months of May-October, the upper level makes for a stunning venue for a winter or fall wedding. Two impressive halls hold up to 225 people. This venue offers an area for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, along with the separate area for the main reception.

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE COMMUNITY CENTRE

OVERVIEW:

Niagara-on-the-Lake has a brand new Community Centre full of hospitality rooms. Small rooms accommodating groups from 10-75, to the larger auditorium seating upwards of 300 people. Our favorite is the Simpson Room, for staff Christmas parties, birthdays, anniversaries or any special occasion, this room has a great lounge off of the main room and great access to the parking lot/outdoor area. Seats 75, standing over 100.

SAINT MARK’S CHURCH

OVERVIEW:

St. Mark’s Church located in historic Niagara-on-the-Lake, built in 1792, it remains the oldest continuous use Anglican church in Ontario. You do not need to be Anglican to be married in this church. Inside seating capacity is about 100. The exterior grounds will allow for outdoor tented dinner receptions for up to 200, followed by indoor dancing/bar. This hall allows your own Special Occasions permit, so you can save money by purchasing the alcohol yourself. What is the cost of a wedding at St. Mark’s? A. The fee for 2012/2013 is $1700.00 which includes HST. These fees includes the services of the Rector, Organist, (music of your choice), Verger, Altar Guild, Bells to be rung following the service, Church fee, maintenance, use of Addison Hall for washroom facilities and waiting area for Bridal party. How many people will the church accommodate? A. 225 comfortably. Q. Is there parking on the premises? A. There is no parking within the gates. Parking is on the street. However, vehicles are allowed to drive in to drop off wedding party and to pick them up after the ceremony, but cannot remain on the property while the service is taking place. Q. Navy Hall provides a distinctive location for your wedding, special event, or meeting. Managed by Parks Canada, Navy Hall is located on the scenic Niagara River and comfortably seats 80 for dinner. Arrangements can also be made to erect tents on the grounds. Rental includes the use of the building, parking lot, and grounds. Historic Navy Hall is nestled on the Niagara river in Niagara-on-the-Lake. A rustic old army barracks rich in history comes alive with weddings and special events. ST. LAWRENCE HALL

OVERVIEW:

The moment you walk into the Great Hall room you will feel like royalty. It is 2700 square feet of pure elegance. The high ceilings are “embossed with gold accents” and you will be drawn in by its “curved flower moulding.” Yet it is the picturesque “column-sized, arched framed windows” that will leave you speechless. It doesn’t take much imagination to envision what grand festivities have taken place within its salmon colored walls.

The Great Hall is the main room, and the one where most brides choose to have the reception and ceremony. The room holds a maximum of 200 people (with a minimum requirement of 60). (All weddings are held indoors as they don’t currently offer outdoor weddings.) Also available is The East Room, which is ideal for all your catering purposes as it is right off the kitchen. There is also a VIP room which serves as a nice secluded place where the bride and her party can take a step back and relax. Right next to the VIP room is a lounge, lovely for a cocktail reception, gift tables and receiving line. All three rooms are available to use for your wedding and each have a separate cost. The rooms can of course be decorated according to the tastes of the couple. Rebecca Grima, the Marketing and Communications Consultant for The Hall, stated that their goal is to “fulfill the vision of the wedding.” This indeed was the case when one couple decorated the Great Hall with empty birdcages. There are many areas that would make memorable photo moments and always the option to have some pictures taken at the St. Lawrence Market as well; you just need to contact the St. Lawrence Hall ahead of time.
